Invisalign Care | Oldham | Manchester Orthodontics

Invisalign® is a fast and effective treatment option available for teens and adults that is very different from the traditional metal train track braces. They are clear, removable plastic aligners that are made specifically for each patient.

Perfect Smiles

Every patient we’ve seen for Invisalign® treatment with us has gained a beautiful smile at the end of their treatment. The great thing about Invisalign is that you start to see visible results after 2-3 months, which gives some patients instant confidence. Another great benefit of having Invisalign® is you will be given access to the ClinCheck app which shows your progress during treatment.

Adjusting to Your Aligners

The first time you wear your Invisalign®, you may feel some discomfort but this should only last a few days. Just remember, your teeth have never been under this amount of pressure before, so the aligners will take some getting used to.

22 Hours a Day

Your Invisalign® aligners need to be worn for at least 22 hours a day to ensure the best results at the end of your treatment. While they are removable aligners, we recommend you wear them all the time, apart from when you want to eat, drink and brush your teeth.

Buttons and Rubber Bands

As every case is different, you may be required to have Invisalign® 'buttons' fixed to your teeth. Invisalign® buttons are little dots on your teeth made from dental bonding material, that help the Invisalign aligners fit in place better.

Rubber bands may also be used in conjunction with Invisalign® to help align teeth that may need more a greater force to pull them into place, such as treatment to fix an irregular bite.

Skip the Snack

You are required to take out your aligners before you eat or drink anything other than cool water, otherwise, your aligners will become discoloured. It is important to remember that food may become trapped inside the aligners making it more likely for you to develop tooth decay from the food particles left on your teeth. As you will have to remove your aligner, eat, and brush your teeth again, is it really worth having that snack?

Invisalign Needs Cleaning Too

Just like your teeth, your Invisalign® also needs to be kept clean. You will need to clean your Invisalign® trays twice a day. All you need to do is take a soft toothbrush and gently clean, using Invisalign® cleanser before rinsing with lukewarm water.
